1. Introduction: Who this course is aimed at and why?
This course is aimed at everyone Orange and Green belt. It is a requirement for anyone looking to grade to Purple belt within the organisation and will aim to give you a good basic understanding of warm-up and cool down techniques, the beginning concepts of teaching and some additional useful information that will help you in being an active member of your TJJF club as you continue to progress up the belt. The Jiu Jitsu Foundation regards this step as pivotal in developing the skills necessary to develop as a jitsuka and skilled practitioner in the art. Further, it should help to develop your self-confidence and other life skills. The notes gathered here are not intended to be exhaustive but rather an introduction to the concepts above. This should be the start of your conversation with your club instructor and other senior grades about where you go next with your jiu jitsu development. As in all walks of life, education should be a lifelong experience – if you are not learning something new about your chosen discipline you may not be enjoying it anymore.
If you want to understand something really well, teach it to someone else.
Your instructor gives their time freely to support your learning and really needs your help and support for the smooth running of the club. If there is something in your club that isn’t running smoothly, it is now partly your responsibility to help your instructor fix it.
The course is only the beginning, Once you have completed this online course you will consider and practise what you have learnt in your club.
